What are the benefits?
An EMU Membership offers access to a dedicated community of experts and practitioners, with whom you can engage in inspiring exchanges and informed debates on professional practice and shared challenges.
The EMU supports your national and regional work by opening up new perspectives, sharing innovative practice, and connecting artistic education with interdisciplinary research. Within the EMU, members work together to strengthen music and art education as an integral part of Europe’s educational and cultural landscape.
An EMU membership provides access to
- the annual EMU European Music School Forum, the Meetings of the Boards and all other events and platforms for European exchange on music and art school education for your national association delegates and board members;
- capacity building seminars, online webinars and lounges on topics related to music and art school education for you and your music and art school teachers and leaders;
- European Music Youth Festivals and other projects and platforms for music and art student exchanges for your music and art school students and teachers;
- the right to vote or become a member of the EMU presidium.
The EMU is committed to providing its members with
- first-hand information on European developments in cultural and educational policy and funding of particular interest to music and arts schools;
- a platform to voice their interests. Your specific needs and priorities are a valuable input into the EMU‘s advocacy and lobbying work;
- information on European events such as European Music School Research Symposia, and other related events organized by EMU or its partner associations (AEC, EAS, MusiQuE, EMC and others);
- regular members news bulletins and an internal members-only website that provides background information and supporting material on past and current events.
What are the requirements to become a full member of the EMU?
- You are a national association of music schools or music and art schools in Europe.
- You have the financial resources to pay the annual membership fee.
- You will nominate a delegate from your association.
- You can provide information about your music and art school system, including statistical information collected every five years.
Other types of membership – Observer member:
If you are interested in becoming a member but do not meet the above requirements, you may wish to become an observer. If desired, the EMU can also assist observer countries in the formation and development of a national association of music and art schools. Observers have access to all EMU services but have no right to vote or become a member of the EMU presidium.
