YMTE aims to support young talents in the under-18 level in music, by
- emphasizing the importance of a combined curriculum that includes both music and academic studies related to the preparation of students for professional studies in the future;
- to form a collaborative network in order to improve and develop the curriculum in both music and academic studies, with the emphasis on excellent performance and substantive relevance;
- the exchange and development of expertise;
- encouraging and supporting exchange programs for students, staff and teachers.
YMTE maps and explores Europe’s diverse pre-college systems to define shared quality criteria.
Through collaboration with other European organisations, YMTE
- develops standards for pre-college education;
- povides external evaluation and quality enhancement services;
- advocates for recognition of pre-college programs at national and European levels.
Challenges such as workload, stress, and well-being are also addressed. The research aims to create ideal learning environments that reduce dropouts and improve progression to higher music education.
