Teacher Shortage Across Europe – Sharing Experiences & Developing Joint Responses

The upcoming edition of the EMU Members' Lounge will focus on a challenge affecting music and art schools across Europe: the shortage of teachers.

The 60-minute session will begin with short presentations by individual members, including KOMU (Austria) and VdM (Germany). VdM is actively working with universities to explore the findings and recommendations of the recently published MIKADO study, which examines the current and projected shortage of young professionals in instrumental, vocal, and elementary music education in Germany. The study also offers concrete recommendations for addressing this challenge.

The presentations will be followed by small-group discussions, providing members with an opportunity to exchange experiences, share ideas, and explore possible approaches.

The aim of this Members’ Lounge is to learn from one another, develop joint responses to this shared challenge, and discuss how EMU can contribute to addressing the issue.
